About Deanna Stephens

Deanna Stephens, organist and classical musician, can provide music for almost any occasion. Deanna has her Bachelor of Music in Composition from Palm Beach Atlantic University. She is the music director and organist at St. Paul's Anglican Church Newmarket. She is also a performing arts teacher independently serving the south Simcoe area with private music instruction, ballroom dance lessons, improv classes, and much more!

The Musician

Deanna teaches piano, voice, organ, music theory, and choir. She teaches independently in the south Simcoe area. After receiving her Bachelor of Music in Composition from Palm Beach Atlantic University, Deanna taught for two years at The Melody in Me after graduation before the studio closed in July 2019 and for two years after that at Moving Art before committing all her time to her own private studio.

In addition to teaching, Deanna is an experienced performer. If you need an organist or a pianist for your wedding, funeral, or other event, Deanna has played a variety of weddings, funerals, and concert performances. At St. Paul's Anglican Church, Deanna leads the choir and accompanies the choir/congregation on piano and organ She is available to consult regarding wedding or funeral music choices. Deanna has been trained during her university studies in organ, piano, and voice. She is also available as a soloist for weddings, funerals, or other events. She has performed solos in her university choirs and done other solo performances, including a funeral.

The Dancer

Deanna has been teaching ballroom and latin dance since 2015 after discovering her passion for the style in 2008. She has won awards at multiple competitions. Her experience teaching includes both private and group lessons in Barrie, Ontario and at Palm Beach Atlantic University. Before that, she served as a dance intern to assist the teachers in the lessons at Paramount Ballroom Studios in West Palm Beach. She also has experience in developing wedding choreography for couple's first dances and choreographing stage musicals. She currently teaches a variety of dances, including: cha cha, rumba, east coast swing, samba, merengue, tango, waltz, foxtrot, hustle, salsa, and bachata.

The Actress

Deanna has trained with a variety of acting coaches, including renowned casting director Juli-Ann Kay, studied improv with Kristen Keller, and has performed in a variety of stage musicals and plays. She also spent two years directing the Musical Theatre for Kids program at The Melody in Me. She began monologue coaching at The Melody in Me in 2018 and has been expanding her services in acting ever since. She now offers improv classes, triple-threat summer camps, and monologue coaching in the hopes of spreading the joy of acting to others.

The Composer

Finally, having trained in music composition, Deanna has presented two full-length concerts of her original compositions and the St. Paul's choir has sung a number of original anthems since she joined the church in 2017. Deanna's services as a composer are available to those wanting a personalized piece of music to make any event special, from weddings and funerals to graduations and birthdays. One of her original pieces of music was used as a processional at a wedding in Wellington, Florida in 2017.
